Take Highway 44 from Redding. WHEN TO VISIT Open year round. Peak visitor month is September. Cold with snow in Winter, warm in Summer. POINTS OF INTEREST Lassen Peak erupted intermittently from 1914 to 1921. Active volcanism includes hot springs, steaming fumaroles, mud pots, and sulfurous vents. ACTIVITIES Visitor Center; NPS guided tours; self-guiding tours/trails; campgrounds; group campsites; backcountry use; hiking; mountain climbing; horseback riding; swimming; boating; boat ramp; fishing; cross-country ski trail. GENERAL INFORMATION The Park is a great place to go for both Summer and Winter enjoyment. Motorized boats are not allowed on Park waters. Campgrounds are located at Manzanita Lake, Crags Summit Lake, Butte Lake. Primitive camping is available at Juniper Lake and Warner Valley Campgrounds. Overnight accommodations are available at Mineral and Chester. Both cross-country and downhill skiing are available.
